Kids Classes (Ages 4-14)

Why are we Regina’s BEST choice for Kids Martial Arts?

  1. Limited Class Size

We are not profit or status driven, so our class sizes are limited and all students receive quality attention and coaching.
Our students don’t sit on a wall waiting to participate or fall behind their fellow classmates.

  2. Abundance of Coaches

We provide more coaches per student than any other martial arts program in Regina.

  3. Sensible Instruction

We don’t believe in teaching young children how to break arms and choke in an atmosphere that is like a military school, nor function like a birthday party. Our program is sensibly structured as to help build character, self confidence, discipline and compassion. We believe classes should be structured, authentic, but most importantly fun so everyone looks forward to attending.

  4. Focus on Empowerment

Our aim is to help children discover the best in themselves through individualized goals and intuitive approaches to teaching.
While competition may be the right thing for the right student, it does not guide the direction of our program.

  5. Expertise and Experience

Coach John has over a decade of experience teaching hundreds of children of all ages.
He has a masterful understanding of the most effective way to teach all types of children, and is regarded as one of the best kids coaches in all of Saskatchewan.

Building the next generation of leaders

Our Kids program is designed to provide benefits that extend far beyond the dojo by instilling core values like confidence, self discipline, real time problem solving, respect, and staying calm during conflict through Jiu-Jitsu.

Saturday/Sunday 12:15-1:05pm

This is our youngest age group and a great time to start your child on their Jiu Jitsu journey.

The curriculum in this program is centered around exercises and games that will introduce our youngest students to the basic movements and core values of jiu jitsu. Students do engage in contact and real sparring, but it is limited to keep students safe and enjoying the process.

When we believe a student is ready for a new challenge, we ask that they move into the next class at 1:15.

Goals:

- Improve behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Improve ability to focus in a group setting
- Build confidence and communication skills
- Develop and improve body coordination and balance
- Introduce basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques

KIDS “A” PROGRAM (Age 5-9)

Sunday 1:15-2:15pm

This class is for experienced, older, or more competitively inclined kids. It builds on all of the goals of the 12:15pm program and also begin to incorporate a more diverse set of Jiu Jitsu techniques and skills. When we believe a child is ready, we will ask for them to move into the weekday classes on Monday and Wednesday nights.

Goals:

- Instill self-discipline and personal responsibility
- Develop physical awareness and coordination
- Build strength, speed and balance with specific exercises
- Increased sparring time
- Use goal setting as a method for self improvement

We will continue to reinforce:
- Good behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to focus in a group setting
- Basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques
- Building confidence and communication skills

KIDS “B” PROGRAM (Age 7-11)

Monday/Wednesday 6-7pm

This is the oldest age group in our kids program and is an important transitional phase as we prepare these students to enter into the adult program. It is our goal to equip them with the confidence and skill set they will need to excel and continue to grow with Jiu Jitsu into adulthood. When we believe a 12-14 year old is ready, we ask they move into the Adult class on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45 to join the many other teens we have already in the class.

Goals:
- Establish strong and technical foundation
- Develop sparring skills
- Encourage teamwork and compassion
- Develop self-control
- Use goal setting as a method for self improvement

We will continue to reinforce:
- Good behavior and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to focus in a group setting
- Basic Jiu Jitsu positions and techniques
- Building confidence and communication skills
